SchoBowlFest is an annual coaching conference held online through Zoom. The conference usually includes a morning session and an afternoon session, and includes community discussions and talks from experienced coaches on topics like recruitment, fundraising, running practices, keeping team statistics, or running tournaments. Turnabouts give teams a chance to compete without having to go up against the best teams in the state. The vast majority of Scholastic Bowl teams are invited, but teams that have won large tournaments or repeatedly placed highly at tournaments in the past year are put on a “Blacklist” and are not invited. The IHSSBCA hosts an annual Awards Banquet to recognize the top teams and players of the year and to honor outstanding coaches and community members. The banquet honors Illinois state champions; adult award recipients including new Hall of Fame inductees, Coaches of the Year, and the Friend of Scholastic Bowl; and outstanding players, including All-State players and Team Illinois players.
